Encourage Storytelling

“Praveen stop making stories”, my mom always used to say this to me, but at public speaking Academy, we encourage students to come on the stage and share their stories. Story means any incident of your life, from which you have learned something, and you want to share with the world.

One Story That Stands Out

In the last few months, I might have heard hundreds of stories, funny stories, strange stories, and a few stories from which I have learned many things. I remember one such story. One girl came on the stage, 13 years old and started sharing her story. She said when she was six years old, her grandfather suffered from paralysis and his half body, lower body, completely paralyzed. She noticed that he was always shouting and screaming.

She said at the age of six, I never felt peace at my home. Many times, I used to think, “Why is he there in my life”, “Why is he there at my home?”. Then one day I decided to sit beside him, she said, and then he slowly waved his fingers in her hair. She said, “for the first time in my life, I realized that he loves me. He cares for me”. That was a very nice feeling.

She said “that happiness lasted only for one week. It was after one week, I lost him”.

That day with this story, she made us cry.

Story Taught Us..

Many of us cried that day in the class and she had only one message from this story.

There are people in your life, no matter which situation they are in which condition they are, you must love them. It should not happen that when you realize that you love them, or when you realize that they love you, it’s too late.

That’s a beautiful realisation . Nobody is here for forever …including we ourselves…and it’s only wise to realise that whoever is there in our life is there for a reason . And it’s entirely upto us to accept this significant fact and derive the reason of their presence in our life at the earliest. What if one of us leaves this world stage without actually figuring it out and missing out on the important opportunity ?

Short and sweet story Praveen sir. Everyone should love their family members, friends or colleagues when they are alive, when they are with us. We should understand their importance in our lives when they are alive rather than missing them when they are not with us.

Life is a Big novel consisting of several chapters. Convert them into stories to share and to get a sort of relief and joy.
        No story is similar.

The way you narrate the story it makes me visualization of the story as though I am watching the story happening in front of me and connects my heart and I could feel the message and gives me immense happiness.
Thank you Sir for make it so easy connect. I am trying to practice this art form.
