Can you observe the speed of the train if you’re inside the train? To observe, you have to be outside.
Can you observe the speed of the flight if you are inside the flight and to observe that speed, you have to be outside the flight.
How To Step Outside The Process?
If you are a part of the process, we cannot observe the process. It’s very difficult.
When you practice in front of a mirror, we are trying to do the same thing.
We are in the process at the same time, we are trying to observe the process, which is not possible. It is very, very difficult. That’s why it’s very important there has to be someone else observing you.
Mirror can’t give you feedback and most of the time that someone else is observing you from the outside is not available, maybe your friend, your colleagues, maybe someone else who can observe you.
Device That Can Help You Evaluate Yourself
They are not available but there is something which is available most of the time and maybe that’s something that is in your hand right now, your mobile.
Yes. Next time when you have a presentation, a talk or a speech instead of practicing in front of a mirror, practice in front of a camera, record your session.
And then there are three ways you can observe your video recording.
Evaluation # 1
First, mute it, just observe your body language. 55% your body language contributes towards effective communication, observe it.
Evaluation # 2
Second, don’t look at it just listen to observe your vocal variety. 38%s vocal variety contributes towards effective communication and then observing everything together.
And when you’re observing all of this, make notes, and next time, when you are doing a rehearsal again, breakfast session, again, try to implement these observations, which you have observed as an outsider.
So for your next presentation, next speech, next talk, stop practicing in front of a mirror, stop practicing in front of the camera.
Hope you have liked this blog. If you have please share with your friends and families and with anyone who wants to become a leader in life, because if you want to become a leader, you have to separate yourself from the crowd, stand alone and speak.
